Providence, Texas, also known as Providence Village, is a master-planned community developed by Huffines Communities beginning in 2000. The community of about 5,000 is situated just to the east of Denton in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.
History
The development of Providence was enhanced by the creation of a special taxing authority called the Denton County Fresh Water Supply District #9. Once the district was set up, funds became available to pay for key infrastructure developments. In 2010, community residents voted to incorporate. The belief among supporters of incorporation was that it would enhance the capacity to provide for the safety of the residents, better keep tax revenue within the community and retain real estate values.
Parks and Recreation
One of the recreational centerpieces of the community in a 25-acre lake on which smaller boats and other watercraft are allowed. The lake is re-stocked with trophy bass on a regular basis. Providence Village includes a total of seven lakes. Some are encircled by popular hiking and biking trails. Water-based recreation is very much cultivated here as well. There are two waterparks, four tot pools, an adult pool, and two Junior Olympic pools complete with lifeguards. On land, residents enjoy soccer fields, baseball fields and basketball courts.

Providence has two clubhouses provided for the enjoyment of the residents. The main clubhouse includes a stunning observation deck and veranda situated 35-ft above the grounds. The state-of-the-art fitness center includes cardio equipment, weights and a sauna in a bi-level design. Many clubs have been created to cater to the varied interest of the citizens of Providence. The second clubhouse is used for theatrical performances, wedding receptions, family reunions and other special events.
